The Communication and Digital Affairs Ministry of Indonesia has announced that from October 20 to November 2, 2025 they have blocked 2 458 934 content pieces that are connected with online gambling. More than 2.1 million were illegal casinos, betting, and lottery sites, while others are posts, communities, and files in social networks and other platforms.
The government highlights that such massive operations are held as a part of the overall strategy against illegal gambling in the region. The info on such massive blocks has attracted a lot of attention, and some sources claim that the government will clean all the suspicious gambling sites in 3.3-3.7 years.
What’s more, according to the Center for Financial Transaction Analysis (PPATK), online gaming-related transaction volumes decreased by about 57% in 2025 compared to 2024. Apart from blocking sites, the government has found 23,604 bank accounts that served as a means for sending payments to illegal gambling operators.
This data was transferred to PPATK for further investigation, and the agency announced its readiness to block the accounts of those involved.
