The Dutch Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, KSA) has fined social media influencer LeftLanePapi €25,000 for promoting illegal online gambling to a Dutch audience.
According to the KSA, the influencer actively pointed followers to unlicensed gambling sites through Instagram and Snapchat. The promotions were targeted at users in the Netherlands which is a clear breach of the Dutch gambling laws.
The authority states the influencer didn’t check if the platforms were licensed and didn’t include age restrictions or responsible gambling warnings in the content. KSA says influencers have a responsibility not to expose vulnerable groups (especially minors) to illegal gambling.
This is part of a broader enforcement strategy by the Dutch regulator to stop unlicensed gambling promotions. In 2023 the KSA also fined several affiliate websites and content creators for the same violation.
