Peru has launched a new directorate under its Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism to handle licensing and regulation for online gambling and sports betting. The move is part of a broader government restructure aimed at modernizing how the country manages gaming and tourism.
The new unit, officially named the Directorate for the Authorization and Registration of Remote Gaming and Remote Sports Betting, will focus on approving operators, registering platforms, and keeping the market clean.
This update follows key legislation — including the law that legalized online gambling in 2022 — and reflects Peru’s push to create a safer, better-regulated digital betting environment.
MINCETUR reports strong early results: 60 platforms approved, 280 providers registered, and thousands of procedures processed in just months. Faster paperwork, clearer rules — and now, a dedicated team to run it all.
