Meta has announced that it removed 134 million scam-related advertisements across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp in 2025 as part of a broader campaign against online fraud. The company describes centers that launch these ads as the most organized and dangerous criminal structures with up to 300,000 cyber scammers operating around the world.

How Meta Is Fighting Scams

According to Meta, the removed ads included fake investment schemes and misleading offers designed to trick users into sharing money or personal data. Many of these scams used stolen images, fake celebrity endorsements, or copied branding to appear legitimate.

Meta says most of the fraud ads were blocked before users ever saw them, thanks to automated detection systems and improved AI tools. According to the company, the amount of complaints against scam ads reduced to 50% in the last 15 months.

Meta highlighted several measures behind the takedown, including advanced AI-powered detection that scans ads for suspicious behavior and known scam patterns. It also uses stricter advertiser verification, especially for financial ads.

The company highlighted that it cooperates with law enforcement agencies to help them dismantle major scam networks.

Why It Matters for Advertisers and Users

For users, these measures mean fewer deceptive ads and a safer online experience. For advertisers, Meta says fighting scams is critical to maintaining confidence in its ad ecosystem. Fraud ads not only harm users, but also reduce trust in legitimate marketing campaigns.

Meta added that scam prevention will remain a priority in 2026, with continued investment in AI, partnerships with law enforcement, and tighter ad review processes.
