Meta is giving Facebook Dating some fresh upgrades powered by AI. They are primarily aimed at avoiding swipe fatigue and helping people find someone who actually shares their interests.
What’s New at Facebook Dating
One of the new key features is called Dating Assistant. It’s a chat created specifically to help users find more relevant matches. Instead of relying only on filters like age or location, users can now type requests such as “Find me someone in New York who likes reading and rock music”. The assistant also suggests ways to improve profiles and even offers ideas for date activities.

Another new feature, Meet Cute, gives users one suggested match each week, selected by Meta’s algorithm. The goal is to make the experience simpler by offering fewer but more personalized options. Users can either start a conversation with the suggested match or skip and wait for the next one.

The launch starts in the United States and Canada, with plans to expand later. Facebook Dating remains free and available directly through the Facebook app.
Why It Matters
- Meta says the new features address “swipe fatigue,” a common complaint among people using dating apps. The company emphasized that all data will remain private and that users can choose whether or not to use the new tools.
- More personalized matches. Instead of just filtering by height or education, users get to say what really matters to them: interests, lifestyle, etc. That gives the app a better chance of picking people they might better connect with.
- Facebook Dating is still free and exists inside the app, so users don’t have to download anything or pay for new options.
