Former Chelsea and Real Madrid star Eden Hazard is under the spotlight with the Belgian Gaming Commission now looking into a partnership he’s announced with crypto casino Stake.

The issue is straightforward: in Belgium, advertising for gambling has been fully banned since 2023, and Stake isn’t exactly flavour of the month in Belgium. As reported by Belgian Gaming Commission and confirmed in media coverage, the regulator is now checking whether Hazard’s campaign was targeting Belgian users.  

All this is because of a video promo that Eden posted on social media — a video that just so happened to be seen by millions of his followers. The BGC is looking closely to see if that is a case of improper advertising aimed at people in Belgium.

If confirmed, Hazard will be formally asked to terminate the partnership. If he fails to comply, sanctions may follow.
