The US President Donald Trump has once again delayed the ban on TikTok until December 16, 2025. This gives TikTok more time to operate freely in the country while negotiations with American investors continue.

However, according to The New York Times, this extension can be the last one. Trump indicated that they have established the outline of an agreement with China regarding the national security issues related to TikTok’s owner ByteDance and its connections to the Chinese authorities.

Sources close to the negotiations say that ByteDance would separate TikTok’s U.S. operations into an independent department, while new American investors will ensure that Chinese ownership falls below 20%.

The law requiring TikTok to be either sold to a U.S. company or blocked became the subject of discussion in January. Talks between TikTok’s ByteDance, the Chinese government, and the US were complicated before, with disputes over control and management.

TikTok remains one of the strongest traffic sources out there, especially for younger audiences. Negotiations between China and the US could change ownership or platform rules in the future. As NYT points out, new owners and those managing TikTok’s influential recommendation algorithm could significantly reshape the US social media market.

But right now TikTok is fully open for business and affiliates should see this as a green light to push harder. With more time before any potential restrictions, affiliates can continue running campaigns, testing creatives, and scaling offers without disruption.
