Facebook is always improving its advertising tools to make it easier for businesses to optimize their campaigns. The latest update is the Facebook ads budget split or sharing, which gives advertisers more control over how their budgets are distributed across different ad sets. This feature aims to maximize performance while simplifying budget management.

What is the Budget Split Feature?

The new Budget Split Feature allows you to split your ad budget more precisely across multiple ad groups within a campaign. Instead of relying on Facebook’s automated distribution of funds, you can now assign specific portions of your budget to each ad group based on your goals, audience or performance expectations.

This feature gives you a balance between manual control and automated optimization so you can make sure high performing ad sets get the resources they need to deliver results.

How to set up a shared budget for ad groups in Meta Ads Manager:

  1. Go to Ads Manager to get started;
  2. Create a campaign. Click “Create” and choose your campaign objective and basic settings. Click “Continue” when done;
  3. Create ad groups. In the top right corner of the screen click the three dots and click “Create Ad Group.” You need to have at least two active ad groups to enable the shared budget feature. If you only have one ad group the shared budget won’t apply;
  4. Set the budget strategy. To do it, go to the “Budget Strategy” section and choose “Ad Group Budget.” Then toggle on “Share part of the budget with other ad groups” and click “Next;
  5. Finish setting up your ad groups and ads in the campaign;
  6. Publish the campaign.

Now your ad group budget will be shared across multiple ad groups in the same campaign.

The Facebook ads budget split will not be applied if you still have one active ad group and the system has nowhere to redistribute the budget.
